What is a Burst of Sunshine?
A burst of sunshine, in this case, is a miracle moment of total and complete beauty, or an act of incredible kindness, which can take place at any point throughout your day. They make you smile, warm your heart, lift your spirits and restore your faith in humanity if you are feeling a little low. They happen to all of us but we very often miss them - here is mine for today and I invite you to keep your eyes peeled for yours. Namaste xo

Welcome to today's Burst of Sunshine.
Monday 18th March 2013 - 9.30am (and several times prior).
Isn't it wonderful when a single human being lights up your whole day?
In my case today it was a very elderly gentleman, who I in fact see almost every single day, in the same place, at the same time, without fail.
Except, today, he was not in his normal place and took me quite by surprise. The tricky devil!
Usually he sits on a public bench, for a good couple of hours each morning (come rain, shine or as is the case most of the time right now, snow) just watching the world go by.
He waves (usually with his walking stick) and smiles to absolutely EVERYBODY!
But today he was not there and well, I was a little worried.
I dropped my Daughter Ava at pre-school and pulled out of my parking space to head home, I went down the usual lane, past the public bench which was empty and a little sad looking, turned the corner onto the main road and felt a little pang of sadness at the absence of my old friend (who I don't know at all I might add).
Then suddenly, there he was, waving vigorously with his walking stick and grinning at me from the sidewalk - he was on his way home I guess (I expect the snow had gotten the better of him), but he still stopped to bid me a jolly good morning.
He had made it a good morning.
I laughed out loud and waved back at this wonderful soul who lights up my days and probably the days of the many people who drive past him each morning.
Maybe one day I will stop and talk to him but I wonder if that would make him too familiar and thus take away the magic that a complete stranger can bring you and others so much joy by doing something so simple.
He is a truly wonderful man and an absolute ray of sunlight in my day.
